Private home visits across Yorkshire
Not everyone can get to a clinic, and not everyone should have to. We bring blood tests, vaccinations, heart and lung testing and ear wax removal to people’s own homes, anywhere in Yorkshire, from our clinic in Ilkley. You get the same clinician, the same equipment and the same published prices as you would sitting in our waiting room – you just don’t have to travel.
Why we visit people at home
YPC Health was started by a paramedic. Years of ambulance work make one thing very obvious: a lot of people end up in hospital, or stuck waiting for an appointment they physically cannot get to, for things that could have been done perfectly well at their kitchen table. A blood test. A flu jab. An ECG. None of it needs a hospital, and quite a lot of it doesn’t even need a building.
So we set the clinic up to work the other way round. If getting to us is the hard part, we come to you instead.
Who home visits are for
People who can’t easily leave the house. Frailty, reduced mobility, a recent operation, a condition that makes travel exhausting or undignified. If a journey to a clinic is the thing standing between someone and a blood test, we remove the journey.
Older patients and their families. Often it’s a son or daughter who gets in touch, because arranging transport, parking and a waiting room for an elderly parent is a whole day’s work for everyone involved. It is usually simpler, and kinder, for us to come out.
People whose working lives make appointments difficult. Shift workers, people who travel for work, anyone whose diary makes a weekday clinic slot genuinely hard. We can come to a home or an office.
Families, households and workplaces. Because we only travel once, seeing several people at one address is far cheaper per person than each of them coming in separately.
What we can do in your home
Blood tests – anything from a single draw using your own kit or an NHS form, through to our full health screening profiles.
Vaccinations – flu, and travel vaccinations including hepatitis A and B, typhoid, rabies, Japanese encephalitis, meningitis B, cholera and MMR.
12-lead ECG – a full heart tracing, done on the spot.
Spirometry – lung function testing.
Ear wax removal.
Everything is carried out by our own clinical staff – phlebotomists, nurses and paramedics – and recorded properly, exactly as it would be in clinic.
Alongside the care you already have
A home visit from us doesn’t replace your GP or anything the NHS is doing for you. It sits alongside it. We regularly take blood from people in their own homes and get the sample where it needs to go, and we’re happy to provide results and reports you can hand to your own GP, a consultant, a pre-operative assessment or an ADHD clinic.
We’re a private service and we charge for what we do. We don’t charge VAT.
Where we cover
We travel across Yorkshire from our clinic in Ilkley – West, South, North and East Yorkshire, including Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, York, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Halifax, Sheffield, Doncaster, Hull and Scarborough, and the towns and villages in between.
The further we come, the larger the travel fee, which is why longer journeys usually make most sense when several people are being seen at one address.
What we can’t do at home
We don’t currently offer GP consultations as home visits. GP appointments are available at the Ilkley clinic, and after a home blood test or spirometry one of our GPs can review your results and give you a telephone or video call, or a written report, for a fee on top.
Some things genuinely need the clinic, and we may need to decline a visit where it isn’t clinically appropriate, or where getting into a property safely isn’t possible.
We are not an emergency service. If someone is seriously unwell, call 999 or 111.
What it costs
Home visit pricing is simply our normal clinic price for whatever you’re having done, plus a fee for coming out to you. That fee depends on how far we travel and which clinician needs to come – and you only pay it once, however many things you have done and however many people are seen at the same address.
