What is Influenza?

Influenza, also known as flu, is respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. These viruses are more common during winter, and symptoms include a sudden fever, aches and pains, a dry cough and sore throat. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. Flu is very infectious and is not treatable with antibiotics.

Why You Should Vaccinate Your Workforce

The results from studies involving a laboratory-confirmed influenza diagnosis suggested that the mean number of working days lost ranged between 1.5 and 4.9 days per episode. Those papers that detailed working days lost per episode following physician diagnosis of influenza reported a range of 3.7-5.9 days per episode.

With this number of days of lost time – the cost of a vaccine may be a significant saving to any business, whilst also allowing staff the option (its not mandatory and people should never be forced) to have a flu vaccination.

Some members of your workforce may already be eligible for free Flu Vaccinations via the NHS, but again this could take time away from the workplace.

Preventing just a few flu cases can offset the entire cost of the clinic by saving on sick pay, cover staff, and operational delays.

  • Tailored Scheduling for Your Business
Clinics can be arranged to fit around shifts, meetings, or peak operational hours, ensuring minimal disruption.

  • Supports a Healthy Work Culture
Promotes public health awareness and encourages a proactive approach to wellness in the workplace.

  • Compliance with Health & Safety Initiatives
Particularly beneficial for industries where infection control is a priority (e.g., healthcare, education, care homes).

Why On-Site Flu Vaccination Clinics Are More Effective Than Vouchers

While flu vouchers may appear more cost-effective, studies show that only around one-third are actually redeemed by employees. In contrast, on-site workplace flu vaccination clinics consistently achieve significantly higher uptake rates. With an on-site flu jab service, employees don’t have to search for a participating pharmacy, book a separate appointment, or take time out of their day to travel—everything is conveniently delivered at their place of work. For example, if we vaccinate 70 staff members in one day and prevent just 3 cases of flu, the savings in reduced sick leave and lost productivity can far exceed the cost of the clinic itself. Investing in a corporate flu vaccination clinic is a proactive way to protect employee health and minimise disruption during flu season.
