Our most in-depth private health check

The Health MOT is our most in-depth health check: a full picture of your health from a single 90-minute visit, with every result reviewed by a GP. It includes:

Comprehensive blood profile - our most in-depth blood test - plus urinalysis
Spirometry - to check your lung function
12-lead ECG - to check your heart's rhythm and electrical activity, with blood pressure, oxygen levels, height, weight and BMI
Hearing test - pure tone audiometry in our audio booth
A written GP summary of your results, then up to an hour with our GP by video or phone to go through everything and answer your questions

Allow 90 minutes in clinic. We take your blood first, so we recommend fasting for 8 to 12 hours beforehand (water is fine).

We will also ask you for a urine sample on the day.

Blood Test

We take your blood at the start of the appointment for our most comprehensive blood profile, the YPC Advanced Health Profile, around 95 markers run as a female or male version:

Your clinical observations are recorded during the appointment, and your results are presented in a clear YPC Health report with each result colour-coded against its reference range.

Every result is reviewed by our GP before your results consultation.

Spirometry Test

You will be seated comfortably and provided with a disposable mouthpiece attached to the spirometer device.
We will ask you to take a deep breath, seal your lips around the mouthpiece, and exhale forcefully into the device.

This may be repeated several times to ensure accurate results.
The clinician may ask you to perform other breathing techniques, such as slow and steady exhalation or rapid inhalation, depending on the test.
Occasionally, the test may be conducted before and after administering a bronchodilator to evaluate its effect on lung function.

Electrocardiogram test (ECG)

During the ECG test, we will attach 12 sensors to various parts of your upper body to get a detailed view of your heart's activity. In addition to the ECG, we will also measure your blood pressure on both arms, oxygen saturations (SpO2), as well as document your height, weight, and BMI measurements. Rest assured, this procedure is non-invasive and completely painless.

Hearing Test/Ear Wax Removal

We start with a visual inspection of both ears to check for wax or anything else that would affect the test.

If wax is blocking one or both ears, the hearing test cannot be done accurately. We can remove the wax on the day at our standard ear wax removal price (£44 for one ear, £65 for both) and complete the hearing test straight afterwards, or you can come back for the hearing test on another day at no extra charge.

For the test itself you sit in our audio booth wearing headphones and press a response button each time you hear a tone. We explain everything as we go.

Meeting with a GP to discuss all your results

Once your blood results are back from the lab, our GP reviews everything together: your bloods, urinalysis, ECG, spirometry, hearing test and clinical observations. She then writes you a short summary of what your results mean and anything that needs action, and you receive a copy of all your results to keep or share with your own GP.

We then arrange a video or telephone consultation with the GP at a time that suits you. You have up to an hour, so there is plenty of time to go through your results in detail, talk through any concerns and agree the next steps, whether that is lifestyle changes, further tests, treatment or a referral.

All of that GP time is included in the £595. Booked separately it would not be. Our standalone blood tests and allergy panels come with your results and a clear report, but a GP review is arranged and paid for on top. With the Health MOT, the review of every result, the written summary and the consultation itself are all part of the price — which is the main reason people choose it over booking tests one at a time.
