There is nobody else present in the clinic room during your appointment except the clinician. You can also bring a friend or support person with you into the appointment if you wish.
Your blood is taken by an HCPC-registered clinician, usually a paramedic, in a private clinic room at 1 Skipton Road, Ilkley.

If your GP or hospital has given you an NHS blood form but you cannot get a convenient phlebotomy appointment, bring the form to us. We take the blood into the correct tubes, label them and hand everything back to you to drop off at your GP surgery, hospital or pathology department the same day. Check first that they accept samples taken elsewhere. This is a private service and the fee cannot be claimed back from the NHS.

Does your kit need a centrifuge?
A centrifuge is a machine that spins blood tubes at high speed. The spin pushes the heavier blood cells to the bottom of the tube and leaves the straw-coloured liquid part of the blood, called serum, on top. Many kit tubes contain a gel that settles between the two layers and seals them apart.
This matters because blood keeps changing after it is taken. In an unspun tube the cells carry on using up sugar and leaking potassium into the liquid around them, which can skew your results or lead the laboratory to reject the sample. Once spun, the serum is sealed away from the cells and stays stable for longer in the post.
Not every kit needs it, and some tubes, such as those for a full blood count, must not be spun at all. Check the instructions that came with your kit before you book. If they say the sample must be centrifuged, spun or separated, book the centrifuge appointment (£55). If they do not, the standard blood draw (£35) is all you need. How much does a blood draw cost?
£35 for a 15-minute appointment, or £55 if your kit needs the sample spun in a centrifuge. Medichecks customers who chose a clinic visit pay nothing on the day. NHS and private request-form draws are £35.
Can you take blood for my NHS blood form?
Yes. Bring the NHS request form your GP or hospital gave you. We take the blood, label the tubes and hand them back with your form for you to deliver to your GP surgery, hospital or pathology department the same day. Check first that they accept samples taken elsewhere. The £35 fee is private and cannot be claimed back from the NHS.
Which home test kits do you accept?
Any postal kit: Medichecks, Thriva, Forth, Numan, Randox, Genova Diagnostics, Regenerus Labs, Blue Horizon and others. If your kit is not listed, we can still do the draw. If the kit says the sample must be centrifuged, book the centrifuge option.
Do I need to fast before my appointment?
Only if your kit or form says so. Follow the instructions that came with it. Fasting samples are best taken early in the day, and we open at 07:00.
When should I book a postal kit?
Monday to Thursday, so your sample reaches the laboratory before the weekend. Book once your kit has arrived and you are ready to give the sample.
Who takes the blood?
An HCPC-registered clinician, usually a paramedic, at our CQC-registered clinic at 1 Skipton Road, Ilkley, LS29 9EH. Appointments are one-to-one in a private room, and you are welcome to bring someone with you.
Can children have a blood draw?
We can take blood from anyone aged 14 and over. For younger children please contact us and we will advise.
