RAPID TEST CASSETTE
We can test you for the presence of coronavirus in your own home using a COVID-19 Rapid Test Cassette, and give you the result within 15 minutes. Our Rapid Test Cassette has an accuracy of >95%. We recommend having this test alongside a COVID-19 Antibody Rapid Test Cassette - see our combined rapid testing service.
Our rapid cassette testing service is £65* per person.
Covid-19 Lateral Flow Rapid Antigen Test
Our rapid test identifies antigens (virus) present in a swab sample and gives a qualitative yes/no result within 15 minutes. The test is perfect for screening quickly at the patient side for the presence of COVID-19. The test can be used as a companion to the antibody test to increase the window of detection. Implementing rapid screening for COVID-19 has huge time and cost savings when compared to, or integrated into, laboratory screening, and will help to control the spread of the virus by identifying active infection rapidly and accurately.A swab is used to sample from either the nose or throat (nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal sample) and introduced into the test cassette by suspension in a buffer solution.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Coronavirus (COVID-19)
COVID-19 is an infectious disease that can affect your airways and lungs, caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus.
This infectious disease was unknown until the recent outbreak which originated in China in late 2019. At the time of writing, cases of COVID-19 continue to rise daily across the globe.
The most common symptoms associated with COVID-19 are fever, tiredness and a dry cough, but symptoms can take up to 14 days to appear so it is difficult to know if someone has been infected ahead of these conditions appearing. In the meantime, infected people can spread the virus unknowingly.
About our COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Cassette
This test is CE marked and identifies the body's response to coronavirus after the onset of infection, and gives a qualitative yes/no result within 15 minutes.
Implementing rapid screening for COVID-19 has huge time and cost savings when compared to laboratory screening, and will help to control the spread of the virus by identifying infection rapidly and accurately. The test cassette is a simple test, needing only a nasal or oral swab sample to function. As with all our services, this test can be carried out at your place of work or in the comfort of your own home.
How does the antigen test cassette work?
The test is a lateral flow immunoassay test and operates in a similar way to a pregnancy test. The patient's swab sample is mixed in a buffer solution, which is added to the test strip. The buffer solution allows the sample to flow along the test strip, where it interactswith antibodies specific for the antigen. If the patient has contracted COVID-19, the biomarkers in their blood will bind to the antibodies on the test strip, leaving a visible test line. If the patient doesn’t have COVID-19, no biomarkers should be present in their blood and no test line will be visible.
Is the test specific for COVID-19?
The antigens that the test detects are specific to COVID-19, so a positive result would indicate COVID-19 infection.
Can the test detect asymptomatic (no COVID-19 symptoms) patients?
Yes, the test will be able to detect IgM/IgG in asymptomatic people, as they will have an immune response even though they don’t display symptoms. The timeline of infection will be the same as someone displaying symptoms.
Do any medications, drugs or other proteins in the blood affect the test result?
To date we have tested numerous common pharmaceuticals, none of which have interfered with the test. Also, Rheumatoid Factor does not interfere with the test, hence we currently see no cross-reactivity issues.
Can babies and young children be tested?
Yes, there are no issues with testing babies and young children.
Can pregnant or breast feeding women be tested?
Yes, there is no harm to the mother or baby when performing a test.
Is there anyone that shouldn’t be tested?
No, the more people that are tested, the better it will be to understand the spread of the virus, which will result in better measures being taken to prevent its spread. However, as the test requires a blood sample, anyone with a blood-related health condition (such as haemophilia) should discuss this with a healthcare professional before performing a test.
Is the test CE marked? Does it have IVD certification?
Yes, the COVID-19 test is CE marked for professional use and is therefore a registered IVD device.
Benefits of our COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Cassette
- Significant time and cost saving over lab methods
Results within 15 minutes
Identifies infection even in mild or asymptomatic cases
Assists in the control of viral transmission
Ideal as a triage and screening tool
Accuracy of >95%
Has the test been accredited?
The COVID-19 test is CE marked for professional use and is therefore suitable and ready for use by a healthcare professional, in addition to clinical evaluations already completed on the product.
What are antigens?
The antigen is the COVID-19 virus itself, or more specifically the proteins of the virus. Antibodies are immune proteins produced by the body in response to the antigen, and act to ‘flag’ the antigen as harmful so that the rest of the immune system can clear it.
